The inaugural Bluestar Awards, recognizing the best of Australian Blues, was held on May 17. Held in conjunction with the Blues on Broadbeach Festival in Australia, this was the first time the Australian fans and industry representatives had a chance to vote on local and international content in an awards format. And the winners included
Industry Awards DVD of the Year: Smokin Joe Kubek featuring B’Nois King My Heart’s in Texas
Peoples Choice – International Band: Little Charlie and The Nightcats
Also, Samuel James took home an award in the Best Blues Artist from the Portland Phoenix's Best Of Portland Music Awards.
