James Blood Ulmer's Birthright was just announced the winner of... DownBeat Magazine's "2006 54th Annual Critic's Poll" for "Blues Album of the Year." Additionally, he finished 3rd for "Best Blues Artist" behind only B.B. King and Buddy Guy. Music's not about competition, but it never hurts to get recognized.
